Fact checked against FDA 510(k) filings, WHO guidance and the sources listed below. How we review

Good Clean Love Almost Naked is the water based lube with the best all round numbers on our index. It measures 240 to 269 mOsm/kg, inside the WHO ideal of 380, with a pH of 4.7, close to the vaginal target. It is aloe based, glycerin and paraben free, and safe with condoms and silicone toys.
The verdict.
Good Clean Love Almost Naked is the water based lube we would hand to most people, iso-osmolar at 240 to 269 mOsm/kg with a pH of 4.7 and nothing in it to sting.
- Best overall: Good Clean Love Almost Naked
- Thinnest feel: Sliquid Organics Natural
- Lowest osmolality: Coconu Water Based
What it is.
Good Clean Love is an American brand whose stated pitch is that a lube should match the body it goes on. Almost Naked is its flagship, the bottle most people mean when they search the brand name. It is a clear, water based liquid gel with a light, slippery feel that does not go tacky as it dries.
It is also the product we use as the benchmark on this site. When we say a lube passes, we usually mean it is in the same territory as this one.
What is in it.
The brand describes Almost Naked as aloe based and made with organic ingredients. Aloe gives it the slip and is the base of several of the best lubes on our index. It contains no glycerin and no parabens.
Leaving out glycerin is what keeps the osmolality down. Glycerin is the ingredient that makes most drugstore lubes concentrated enough to sting, and the WHO advisory on lubricants names it as one to keep low.
Some people notice a faint aloe scent.
How it measures.
Osmolality. The WHO advisory calls 380 mOsm/kg or under ideal and 1,200 the ceiling. Almost Naked measured 240 to 269 in the lab data compiled by Edwards and Panay. Vaginal secretions sit around 260 to 290, so this lube is close to iso-osmolar, meaning it neither pulls water out of tissue nor floods it. For comparison, K-Y Jelly measured 2,007 to 2,510.
pH. A healthy vagina runs 3.8 to 4.5, and a vaginal lube ideally sits near 4.5. Almost Naked measured 4.7. That is a hair high, and well within what we call on target. A lube running 7 or 8 would be the problem, not this.
By the numbers, it passes both tests. The full ledger is in the lube index.
Who it suits.
Most people, most of the time. If you want one bottle that works with condoms and every toy and does not irritate, this is it.
Sensitive skin and recurring irritation. Low osmolality and a short, glycerin free list take away the two most common triggers.
Menopause and postpartum dryness. Thin tissue is the most sensitive to a concentrated lube, and this one is close to the tissue's own balance. Pair it with a moisturizer for dryness between sex; see vaginal moisturizer vs lube.
Pelvic pain. The Pelvic Health and Rehabilitation Center's guidance leans on exactly these criteria: low osmolality, pH near the vaginal range, no glycerin.
Who should skip it.
Anyone who wants a lube that lasts through a long session without reapplying. Almost Naked is thinner than a gel, and water based lubes absorb and evaporate. A silicone like Uberlube lasts longer. Skip it for showers too, since water rinses it away. And if you know you react to aloe, choose a formula without it.
How it compares.
| Good Clean Love Almost Naked | Sliquid Organics Natural | Coconu Water Based | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Osmolality (mOsm/kg) | 240 to 269 | 106 | 42 to 46 |
| pH | 4.7 | 4.0 to 4.4 | 4.0 to 5.0 |
| Passes WHO ideal | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Glycerin and paraben free | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Feel | Light, slippery | Very thin | Light, almost watery |
| Condom and toy safe | Yes | Yes | Yes |
All three pass. Sliquid Organics Natural is thinner, vegan by the brand's account, and has a pH right inside the vaginal range. Coconu Water Based has the lowest osmolality on our index and a faint coconut note. Almost Naked has a little more body than either, which means fewer reapplications, and it is the easiest of the three to find.
Which version to buy.
Good Clean Love sells several lubes and moisturizers beyond Almost Naked. We only have published osmolality and pH data for Almost Naked, so it is the one we grade and the one we recommend. For the others, ask the brand for the 510(k) summary or lab numbers before you buy.

Frequently asked questions.
Is Good Clean Love safe?
By the numbers, it is one of the safest water based lubes we track. Almost Naked measures 240 to 269 mOsm/kg and pH 4.7, with no glycerin or parabens. If you react to aloe or plant ingredients, patch test on your inner arm first.
Can you use Good Clean Love with condoms?
Yes. Almost Naked is water based and safe with latex, polyisoprene, polyurethane and nitrile condoms.
Does Good Clean Love expire?
Yes. The date is printed on the bottle. Plant based water lubes are best used within about a year of opening. Throw it out if it separates, smells sour or changes color.
Is Good Clean Love good for menopause?
It is one of the better water based options for thinning tissue, because its osmolality is close to the tissue's own. For dryness between sex, add a vaginal moisturizer used every two to three days.
Good Clean Love vs Sliquid, which is better?
Both pass the WHO ideal easily. Sliquid Organics Natural is thinner with lower osmolality (106). Almost Naked has a little more body and is easier to find in stores. Pick by feel.
